Adverb

An adverb qualifies a verb, an adjective, and another adverb.
Examples
The man runs slowly.
Here slowly is the adverb, it adds to the meaning of the verb run.
Adverb used with Adjective
John did a very difficult sum.
Here very adds to the meaning of the difficult. So, verb is used with the adjective.
Adverb used with another adverb
He runs very quickly.
Here the adverb very adds to the meaning of the other adverb quickly.

Adverbs are of the following types

Adverb of manner
Adverb of place
Adverb of time
Adverb of frequency
Adverb of certainty
Adverb of degree
Interrogative adverb

The verb which is used for describing the manner of doing a work is called “Adverb of manner”. It 
answer the question “how”.
e.g. well, badly, quickly, painfully etc.

The adverb which is used for describing time is called “adverb of time”.

It answer the question “how often”.
